ChetG Productions is proud to present the completed Web presence of the 2010 Solo Zydeco Music Festival!

Mr. Troy Barrett approached me in a pinch with this project. He had a little over a month before tickets went on sale for his biggest event of the year, and his new and improved Web site was not finished. Together we were able to build a new design for him from scratch that allows for everything he needs from his Web site.

The Web site serves as an information hub for everything about the 2010 Solo Zydeco Music Festival. From there guests can read biographies for all of the participating artists, learn about events occurring that weekend, and even purchase will call tickets.

This is one of the most in-depth projects I’ve had to do with a client as I was in charge of everything from the design to content creation. It was a fantastic learning experience, and the beginning of a great relationship.

Third design for Chet & Nicole dot com. Designed with my lovely bride in mind.

Now that my fiancee and I are now husband and wife, it was decided that our Web site needed to be converted from a full on Wedding Information hub, to a blog about our life together. Last week I sat down with a basic idea, and it gradually evolved as I pieced it together in Photoshop. It only took about 2 hours to slice and code it after sitting down to get it done.

This is the third iteration of the Chet & Nicole Web site, one of the previous versions can be seen below, and the other is lost to the ages.

After a month of coding and design tweaking, ChetG Productions has been reborn! This is really my first step in the re-branding of my freelance efforts. This site was designed by me 100% with input from peers to help touch it up. Most excitedly it is 100% WordPress. I’ve been working with WordPress for 3 years now, but only recently have I embraced its abilities to act as a CMS.

With that said, I am ready to take on new clients. What can I do for you?

The Bearkat Camp is a weekend experience for incoming Freshmen at SHSU. They spend the weekend learning Bearkat traditions and values.

While at the SHSU Recreational Sport department I was approached by the Outdoor Sports department to help them with this project. It is extremely similar to the Recreational Sports department due to the department head’s want for continuity within the Web sites. This site has remained true to it’s original form with very few changes having been made.

It is 100% hand coded using HTML and CSS, and uses the same bit of JavaScript to control the heading slide show as before. While these two sites go hand in hand, I prefer to give each one separate respect.

Most of the experience I gained from this project was working within a department of people that do not always necessarily see eye-to-eye. It’s a strong skill to know how to work with clients from all walks of life. I take pride in my ability to effectively communicate with whomever benefits from my services.

As Web Master for the Recreational Sports department at SHSU, I decided it was time for an update to the department Web site.

In July 2008 I became the Web Master in the Recreational Sports department at Sam Houston State University. Their Web site was dreadfully out dated, and was filled with broken links, random bits of PHP and a failing navigation system. The department had never been able to uphold the theme of the site, and it eventually fell into disrepair.

This is the second version of the site that I designed. It is updated in both format and coding. It uses JavaScript for slide show effects in the headers of the pages, and in a news section on the home page. It took some time to convince the department head that the update was necessary, but once it was approved everything was ready to go.

I learned a lot of my JavaScript skills from this project. I also walked away with a lot of lessons on why semantic code is always necessary.

I effectively left this department in May 2009, and no longer have control of their systems.

An elegant wedding Web site for my bride and I. It is home to all information regarding the wedding including registries, hotel blocks, and bride & groom blogs.

In October 2008 I proposed to the love of my life. Naturally we needed to join the Wedding Website bandwagon, but I couldn’t allow my name to be attached to a frumpy site designed by The Knot. The first version of the site was born, and coded in 8 hours. It was simple, and served its purpose. However as the wedding grew nearer there was a need for more information to be available to the guests.

In June of 2009 I set out to redevelop the Web site, including a WordPress theme. Now it is the head quarters or anything someone would want or need to know about the wedding. The design is inspired by our choice to host an autumn wedding among the seasonal foliage of East Texas.

From this experience I gained a lot of PHP and MySQL experience when coding the Guest Book section of the site. I learned the basic steps from some online instructions, but have since worked out the debugging and spam filters on my own. This is a project that makes one respect spam filters and their programmers.

ChetG Productions has been continually redesigned since I purchased the URL about a year ago. This has been terribly embarrassing for me. I mean really, how can someone claiming to be a Web designer and developer sustain a reputation from an unfinished Web site?

Now ChetG Productions has been divorced from my private blog and is now solely dedicated to expanding my Web design craft. I will be adding more content as I get going. I would like to eventually have a section dedicated to articles I have written or articles I enjoyed reading. I look forward to working with you, and thanks for stopping by.
